85 years ago, in August of 1940, 84 children of Hoover Company employees in Great Britain arrived at Hoover Camp in North Canton. The children were fleeing the impending bombing and potential invasion of their country by the Germans as they advanced across Europe. The children would spend the next five years living with families throughout Stark County, finally returning home after the defeat of Germany in 1945.
